Do I need a Stage 2 map, or will Stage 1 do?
If your car is completely standard, Stage 1 is the right choice. Only move to Stage 2 once you have — or plan to fit — a decat downpipe, high-flow filter, upgraded intercooler or similar. Running a Stage 2 file on stock hardware is inefficient and risks compromising longevity.
What hardware do I need for Stage 2?
Requirements vary by make and model. Common Stage 2 hardware includes: decat downpipe (petrol), high-flow air filter or full induction kit, upgraded front-mount intercooler, and on some cars an uprated fuel pump. We advise honestly on your specific platform before booking.
How much does a Stage 2 remap cost?
£350 – £550 for the calibration itself. Hardware is separate. If you're supplying an unfamiliar combination we may charge for extra dyno-methodology road testing, always agreed up-front.
Is Stage 2 legal for road use?
Yes on the calibration itself — provided the vehicle still passes MOT and emissions. A decat downpipe changes emissions hardware and use of that hardware on a road-going vehicle is entirely at the owner's discretion and risk. We always advise the road-legal alternative first.
Stage 2 Remap across Derby
Derby is an engineering city, and Derby drivers ask better questions than most — about torque curves, EGT limits and what the data-log actually shows. We like that. Daily commuters on the A38 and A50 want a Stage 1 that fills in the mid-range and settles the DSG or 8-speed auto; tradespeople in Sinfin, Alvaston and Spondon want their Transporter or Vivaro to pull properly when loaded; and performance owners in Allestree, Mickleover and Darley Abbey want Stage 2 calibrations with hardware-matched boost and logged proof of the result.
