Stage 1 asks nothing of your hardware. It's a software-only tune calibrated to unlock the safety margin manufacturers leave in every stock file. Expect sharper throttle response, a fatter mid-range and — in most turbocharged cars — the kind of overtaking punch that makes the A38 feel completely different.
The moment you add a decat downpipe, a high-flow filter or a larger intercooler, your engine can move more air. A Stage 2 map re-calibrates fuelling, boost and timing to take advantage of that extra flow. Gains typically jump another 10–15% over Stage 1.
Stage 1 pricing across Derby ranges roughly £250–£400 for petrol and £275–£425 for diesel. Stage 2 adds the cost of the hardware. Any remap must be declared to your insurer — most mainstream insurers accept single-stage remaps with a modest premium adjustment.
