EA288 & EA189 TDI, EA888 TSI and the DSG box — the platform we know best.

Tuning your Volkswagen

Volkswagen's EA888 petrol and EA288 diesel engines are two of the most tuneable, best-understood platforms on the road, and they're everyday work for us. A 2.0 TDI Golf, Passat or Transporter gains strong, usable low-down torque and often better cruising MPG; a GTI, R or Golf TSI sharpens dramatically, especially matched with the DSG gearbox. Every map is VIN-specific and logged on local roads.

Volkswagen models we tune

Golf, Polo, Passat, Tiguan, T-Roc and Arteon in 1.5/2.0 TSI and 1.6/2.0 TDI, the GTI/GTD/R, Transporter T5/T6/T6.1, Caddy and Amarok, plus the shared MQB platform across SEAT (Leon, Cupra) and Škoda (Octavia vRS, Superb). DSG/S tronic TCU tuning is available alongside almost all of them.

Don't see your exact model below? It's almost certainly still a job we do — send your registration on WhatsApp and we'll confirm the stock figures, realistic Stage 1 gains and a fixed price, then bring the tune to your driveway anywhere across the East Midlands.

Stage 1 or Stage 2 for your Volkswagen?

For a standard Volkswagen, Stage 1 is almost always the right choice — it's written for your factory hardware and gives the best balance of gain, reliability and cost, with no parts to buy. Stage 2 only makes sense once you've fitted a downpipe, a sports cat, an uprated intercooler or an induction kit, because the file is written to exploit that extra airflow. We'll tell you honestly which suits your car and your goals; if you upgrade later, the Stage 1 price is credited against Stage 2. Either way the map is bespoke to your exact engine, never a generic flash.

What every Volkswagen remap includes

Every job starts with a full OBD health check and a live-data baseline log, so we only ever tune a car that's fit to be tuned. We then read and archive your original ECU file to two places, write the VIN-specific calibration, and verify it on a logged road test on your local roads — watching boost, fuelling, timing and temperatures in real time. You get a before/after summary, a 30-day peace-of-mind warranty and your original file kept safe for a return to factory any time. It's all fully mobile, with a fixed price agreed from your registration before we book, and no call-out charge across our East Midlands service area.

Featured Volkswagen builds

Diesel · 2013–2020 (Mk7 / Mk7.5)

VW Golf 2.0 TDI

150 → 190 bhp · 340 → 410 Nm
Stage 1 £275 – £325

The EA288 2.0 TDI in the Mk7 Golf is the most common diesel on East Midlands roads and responds exactly as you'd hope: a Stage 1 takes the 150 to GTD-plus output with a much flatter torque curve. Pair it with a DSG TCU map and the car feels like a different class of vehicle.

Petrol · 2013–2020 (Mk7 / Mk7.5)

VW Golf GTI

245 → 300 bhp · 370 → 430 Nm
Stage 1 £325 – £375

The Mk7 GTI is arguably the best Stage 1 car on sale. The EA888 was built with Golf R hardware headroom, so a software-only Stage 1 takes it to around 300 bhp — genuinely R-pace — with a stock-feeling idle and drivability. Stage 2 with a downpipe and intake goes further.

Diesel · 2016–2019 (T6) · 2019+ (T6.1)

VW Transporter T6

150 → 190 bhp · 340 → 410 Nm
Stage 1 £300 – £375

T6 owners — campers, trades and family buses alike — book us for one reason: the 150 feels gutless when loaded. A Stage 1 adds 70 Nm exactly where the van needs it and transforms motorway cruising. The DQ500 DSG is a strong box and benefits from a matched TCU map.

Volkswagen remapping · FAQ

Should I tune the DSG gearbox too?

At Stage 1 it's optional; at Stage 2 torque it's strongly recommended, because you're usually at or past the factory DSG torque limit. We do both in one mobile visit and match the maps.

Can you remap a VW Transporter for towing or payload?

Yes — this is one of our most-booked jobs. We tune for strong low-rev torque when loaded, which also reduces gear-hunting and usually improves MPG.

Do you tune SEAT and Škoda too?

Yes — they share VW's MQB platform and EA888/EA288 engines, so the same calibrations and gains apply.
